indeterminate inflorescence of diverse types; flowers gamopetepetalous generally
4 or 5 lobed, tubular or bilabiate, less often otherwise, rarely wanting; calyx
of 4 or 5 lobes distinct or united, simliar or dissimilar sepals or fewer;
stamens 4, epipetalous, usually 2 unequal pairs, sometimes only 2 or 5 with the
5th one either fertile or sterile; ovary superior; fruit a capsule.
