Flowering stems
12-18 dm tall; basal and lower leaves large, 1.5 to 5 dm long, crenate to
dentate, cauline reduced upward; racemes elongate, secund, leafy bracteate,
bracts entire; pedicels 6-20 mm long; sepals mostly separate, 15-18 mm long at
maturity; corolla 40-50 mm long, purple, on the lower side pale with purple
spots and mottling, or corolla may be white; import from Europe now common along
roadsides.
