Crepis capillaris (L.) Wallr.                     Smooth Hawksbeard

Plants with several stems 0.2-9 dm tall; basal leaves 3-30 cm long, lanceolate, rucinate-pinnatifid or lyrately pinnate, petiolate, with short yellow hairs; cauline leaves sessile, reduced above; inflorescence corymbiform, heads several to many 20-60 flowered, pedunculate, involucres 5-8 mm high; outer bracts shorter than the inner, inner 8-16 sometimes with black glandular hairs; receptacle glabrous; achenes fusiform and beakless; pappus 3-4 mm long; lawns, meadows, waste places.
