Cassiope mertensiana (Bong.) G. Don         Merten's Heather

Stems much branched, 2-4 dm high, branches erect; leaves oblong, thick, 3-4 mm long, closely appressed, 4-ranked; corolla 6 mm long, campanulate, white, lobed; in the mountains not much below the timber-line.
