Anaphalis margaritacea (L.) B. & H.                   Pearly Everlasting

White-wooly plants, erect leafy stems, 2-9 dm tall; leaves entire, alternate, lanceolate to linear, 12 cm long and 1.5 cm wide, sessile, gray wooly beneath, green above, margins usually revolute; heads numerous in a terminal corymb, 4-15 cm broad; involucre almost globose, bracts pearly white in several series; achenes with little bumps; pappus of capillary bristles; staminate flowers tubular with undivided style; pistillate flowers tubular-filiform, style bifid; receptacle naked; very common in open places.
