Shrubs
or small trees, 2-5 m tall; leaves simple, alternate, broadly oblong, sometimes
hairy beneath, toothed above the middle though sometimes entire, 2-5 cm long,
1-3.5 mm broad; flowers in racemes, 3-8 cm long, flowers close together, petals
about 1 cm long; in open woods, common.
