Plant scapes 2-6
dm tall; leaves spatulate to lanceolate, entire to shallowly lobed, 5-35 cm
long, 1-30 mm wide, rounded; involucre 15-20 mm high; flowers orange, becoming
purplish; achene 5-9 mm long, beak 1/2 as long or longer than the achene; common
in alpine meadows, around 2000 m elevation.
