Achlys triphylla (Smith) DC.                   Vanilla-leaf

Leaves mostly solitary, long petioled, 3-foliate, fan-shaped, sinuate-dentate, blade 5-20 cm broad, fragrant on drying; flower-stalk leafless; flowers a dense spike, 2.5-5 cm long, no petals or sepals; fruits reddish-purple; common throughout the woods.
